What to do in a health emergency
If your parent passes out or has had an accident - call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
If you are preparing food, be careful with knives and hot water. If you have an accident, make sure that you seek some form of medical attention soon afterwards.
When adults are needed you could
Choose an adult (family member or friend or both) to act as a guardian (someone to look after you).
Think about the routines that you are experiencing and try to plan ahead by inviting adult support or remain in your room, especially if you have brothers and sisters.
When things are not safe
If your parent is angry, then distance yourself from them and remain calm. If possible stay in your room or arrange to go to a friend’s house – call your guardian.
If an angry situation worsens and your parent, guardian or carer becomes violent to you or others, then get yourself out of the house and go to a neighbour. Ask them to call your guardian.
