Emma Spiegler’s mother was addicted to booze. As their relationship broke down, Emma had one boyfriend after another with the same addictive personality. Could she finally do something to end the cycle of despair once and for all?
Closing the bedroom door, Emma turned the key in the lock and tried to block out her mum’s sob’s. Then she went back downstairs. ‘My mum’s not feeling very well’, she told her friends, forcing a smile. ‘She’ll be alright later’. Emma hated locking her mum, Jane, in the bedroom but she didn’t know what else to do. Jane wasn’t ill, she was drunk, like she was every night. |
