Action for Children is a children's charity that supports and speaks out for the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

Includes Family Support. You are not alone. We can provide you with practical advice and support that will help you cope with the fear, confusion, guilt, uncertainty and exhaustion that is part of living with a drug, alcohol or other addiction problem. We take action to disarm addiction. We do this through research, treatment, family support, education and training.

We cannot underestimate the challenge of prejudice and cynicism that exists in the wider world towards those who become dependent on drugs and alcohol, often at very young ages. Our first young people’s service opened in 1997 and, at that time, there were few places specifically for children and young people struggling with the problems of substance misuse.

Adfam is the leading national organisation working with and for families affected by drugs and alcohol.
We provide direct support to families through publications, training, prison visitors’ centres, outreach work and signposting to local support services.

ACA is a fellowship of men and women with the common bond of having been raised in an environment where alcoholism, addiction and dysfunction were present. For a list of meetings in the UK, please call 07071 781899.

Alcohol Action Ireland is the national charity for alcohol related issues in Ireland. We work to create awareness of alcohol-related harm and the policies needed to reduce that harm. While not a direct service provider, we do sign-post to organisations that provide services. Our current campaign Keeping it in the Family puts a focus on children affected by parental alcohol problems.
